Crombie's Banned in Vigo County
Legislators Cite Threat.
Sheriff Seizes Supply from wary Merchants
Sauce-maker Vows to Appeal
The Vigo County Legislature today voted to ban production of Doctor Ira P. Crombie's BBQ sauce, pronouncing it a "threat to public taste and the American way of life."  Despite impassioned pleas from citizens and Mercantile Proprietors, legislators held firm, voting 11 to 3 for immediate prohibition of the popular sauce which, in the past few weeks, has won public adulation at several county cookery contests.
Crombie, a retired military colonel and current Vigo Springs tooth doctor, remarked "this is a pure example of the suppression of Freedom of Taste. I aim to fight for the restitution of our right to make it and for the citizenry of Vigo County to enjoy it." Crombie's supporters rallied outside the legislative chambers. Many opined that jealousy caused the hastily- passed ban, citing legislator Jasper Snopes became enraged when Crombie's sauce-laden entry in a recent cook-off had easily won Gold, all judges turning their backs on Snopes' entry of his family's recipe of Dirty Chicken. Said one Crombie ally:  "No shiny-suited legal eagle ever trumps a real grillin' man."

Authorities Mount Probe
Investigators sought clues today to catch the masterminds who managed to enter a heavily guarded Evidence Storage Facility and spirit away 72 bottles of Crombie's Bootleg BBQ Sauce just hours after their seizure by deputies in a series of raids on merchants carrying the recently banned substance. Sheriff Gilmore Waddell admitted to a Voice reporter "it's a real head scratcher."
